So...I have decided that I really want to run a 5K.

I've never said that out loud, much less written it down anywhere. One of our friends, Mandy Wilburn, wrote a blog just the other day about training to run a 5K. It was a definite confirmation that it is something I want to do as well. I began "training" last night at the gym. It is my goal not just to be able to run the 3 mile race, but to run it in a good time. I haven't timed myself in running a mile since high school. My best time ever was 7 minutes, 25 seconds. I doubt I'll be able to do that again, but I am going to try to keep slimming down my time each day.

I'm also currently in the process of convincing Mat I need new running shoes. And I really do. He says it's my socks that are making my toes hurt. I disagree. SmartWool socks don't make your feet hurt. How can $13.00 socks make your feet hurt, right?

My other goal is to start working out in the morning. I have recently moved my Quiet Time to a morning thing, so working out will make my mornings start at about 5:30 a.m. I would love to be a morning person, and when I finally get awake and going, I love it. But I always seem to hit snooze on my phone alarm before "Whitney" actually wakes up.

Anyway, so those are my goals. I have recently gotten into goal setting. I'm doing well so far. Keep cheering me on! It helps!! And thanks for reading...


  1. Yea!! I am planning on running a race in Mobile in May if you want to run together. Kevin may do it with me if Mat wants to join up!! The race is with the Port city Racers-log on to their website, check it out and let me know!
