...Just as Christ loved the Church

I am convicted of not being thankful enough. God has, for some reason that I have yet to find, chosen to bless me beyond belief. And while I sit here in the comfort of my own home, on a nice, soft couch, in good, clean clothes, with a full belly, I am thankful. But, I have to remember to be thankful. And for that, God, I am truly sorry. So, thanks be unto God, who gives us all things freely.

But there is one gift I have for which I can never say thank you enough: my husband. I look back over just the past year and a half of my life, and I still can't believe I am a married woman with a wonderful, Godly husband who loves and respects me. It's amazing. I am forever indebted to my husband, Mat, for his love, guidance, friendship, kindness, humor, gentleness, patience...and I could go on and on forever. But here are just a few reasons why I love my Matty so very much:

He still opens the car door for me...and we are MARRIED.

He chooses to love me regardless of my actions and attitudes.

He loves people and cares about their spiritual life.

He loves and respects his family, even when they let him down (and me too!).

He knows how to make me laugh, even when I am mad.

He does whatever I ask of him.

He listens to me and my problems (ok, and my whining, too).

He loves my mom.

He allows me to have 2 precious kitty cats in my house.

He does things for me every day-- things I probably do not even know about.

He carries heavy things for me.

He prays with me every night.

He guides me.

He takes the trash out and mows our grass.

And again, I could go on and on forever. But I know the number one reason I love my husband so much is because he loves Christ more than he loves me. The love he has for Jesus allows him to love and respect me the way a woman should be loved. He loves me like Christ loved the Church, just as he is commanded to. And for that, I thank him, and I thank God.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
Ephesians 5:25-28

Thank you God for my husband, Mat. Thank you for giving me such a blessing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

(P.S.-- I love you more, Matty!)
