the pioneer woman cooks...with the alexanders

The Pioneer Woman.

You've heard of her, right?

Oh...no? You haven't. Ok. Stop reading this and go to this page. Read some of her posts, look around on her site and then come back.

...Waiting some more...

Ok. You're back. She's wonderful, right? Simply captivating. I love her. And there's so many reasons why I love her. Reason #93,678? This...

Her cookbook. I love her recipes. I made her chocolate sheet cake for Mat for his birthday...

And he loved it! It was such a great recipe to follow. And I love PW's cookbook because...

1. She made all the pictures in it (except for the ones of herself-- that'd be weird).

2. It has lots of varied recipes in it.

3. I has step-by-step pictures of each recipe.

4. I has stories of her life on her real life ranch in it.

5. It's a great cookbook. Duh.

Anyway, one of my blogger friends Jennifer, over at Tales of a Peanut had the idea to cook through PW's cookbook this year. (Julie and Julia, anyone?) I thought it was a great idea, so I decided I'd jump aboard with her. Jennifer, her husband, Jason, and their precious baby girl, Charlotte, are big Bama fans (Roll Tide, Jennifer!) and are in Pasadena, CA, for the National Championship game, so she won't start cooking until after they return. I've already made two of PW's recipes, so I'll be blogging about them soon. I totally forgot to make pictures, but I promise I will make pictures for all the other recipes.

I just wanted to offer it up to you...do you want to cook with us? I think Jennifer will be putting a MckLinky up if you'd like to join in on the fun. The recipes are easy, and I think their are about 65 or so recipes.

It's all for fun, so grab your cowboy, your wooden spoon and your butter, and let's get to cooking for 2010!!

  1. I've heard of her and now want to follow her. And, just at the right time because my kitchen skills need some serious sprucing up. Thanks for the blog.

  2. 人生的價值以及他的快樂,都在於他有能力看重自己的生存..................................................

  3. I got this cookbook for Christmas and I LOVE it! I made the brie stuffed mushrooms (I can't remember if they are there or on her site only) but they were WONDERFUL! Not to mention the cinnamon rolls! Yummy! Great Idea!

  4. Probably won't be cooking through the book...don't have enough reasons to be cooking these days...but I have purchased the cookbook and am so excited that two of my favorite friends will be doing this! Can't wait to see all the fun things you create!
