you're four months old, wattsie!

My goodness, I cannot believe you are four months old, my big, bright-eyed girl! How time continues to fly.

We went to the pediatrician's office yesterday, and you weigh 17 lbs., 9.5 oz. (97th%). Your head circumference is 17 in. (95th%). And you are 25 5/8 in. long (90-95th%). We saw the nurse practitioner, Blaire, today, and she says you are hitting all your milestones exactly how you should be. She said you are behaving just like a normal, growing 4 month old. We are so thankful for a happy, healthy, growing girl!

You wear a size one two diaper and mostly 3-6 and 6 months clothing. Because I wasn't prepared for really warm weather in March, you've been wearing some of your summer 9 months clothes, and they are a little big on you. You are still in 0-6 months socks and a size 2 shoe (which is big on you).

You have grown up so much over this past month. The biggest change is how your eating habits have changed. You don't eat quite as often now. You only nurse probably 8 times total all day. You eat for maybe 25 minutes if even that long. You are so fascinated by the world around you that you seem like you don't have time to eat! You are too afraid you'll miss something.

Because you are eating less, you are playing more. You are happier by yourself longer now than you have been before. You love to play and sit in your Nap Nanny.

You have really gotten into a bedtime routine, too. At 7:30 p.m., I give you a bath. By 7:50, we are on the couch snuggling. You nurse for about 30 minutes, and you are usually in your crib by 8:30 or 9 p.m. at the latest. Your daddy always gets you from my lap and puts you down-- he says it is his favorite time of the day. He loves taking you to bed. You sleep usually through the night and wake around 8:30 or 9 a.m. You are such a good sleeper! The Lord has blessed your momma through this in a huge way-- He knows this momma needs her sleep.

You have really gotten the hang of being able to grab something and pull it to your mouth. You love to chew on our fingers and your hands. You have just recently started to suck your thumb, but you do it with your hand upside down (with your fingers on your eyes). You take a pacifier sometimes, but usually only in the car if you are so tired you cannot fall asleep.

Your favorite toys are your bug that hangs from your car seat (Mr. Bug), your Sophie giraffe chew toy, your Baby Einstein Planet Neptune play mat and your "iPod" (your Baby Einstein music player that looks like an iPod). In the car, you will "talk and talk" to Mr. Bug. We usually say you are letting him have it. It absolutely cracks us up!

You LOVE to watch tv. It is so funny to us. You will stare at the tv for forever if we let you. It fascinates you.

You are rolling over all the time. You hardly lay on your play mat any before you are on your tummy with your head straight up at a 90* angle. You love to look around like you're a "big girl!"

Two days after you were born, a little white speck appeared right below your left eye. It's been there ever since. But, just a few days ago, you woke up and your daddy noticed it was gone. It was the strangest thing. But, it's gone now, and it hasn't returned.

You have the funniest facial expressions. You have started to smile a lot more. You have the sweetest "surprised" face, too. You make hilarious faces when we blow lightly on your face. You are so animated, but yet still very, very serious in your demeanor.

You still love bathtime. This helps make our nighttime routine even better, I think.

You "talk" all the time. Just this past Sunday night, I had to take you out of the service because you were just "talking" away. You were competing with your daddy while he preached, and it was the sweetest thing I've ever heard. You were so proud of yourself.

The other night, your daddy and I were looking at your hair in the lamp light, and it has become the most beautiful deep, golden color. We both think it is beautiful. I cannot believe it's not darker than it is, and maybe it will change, but right now, I love how shiny and silky it is. It's growing in thicker every day.

We've noticed you have started "chewing" while we eat, so I decided to let you try rice cereal for the first time yesterday with the pediatrician's approval, and you were a total champ! You weren't messy with it at all. You ate a ton of it, and you kept opening your mouth for more. I think we have a good eater on our hands. (A post on this milestone to come!)

Your daddy tells you every single day, "Wattsie, we love you so much, and we are so proud of you," and I couldn't agree more. We love you so much, and we are so very proud of you.

Oh, little girl, I am wild about you. You make every day the best day.

Happy four months, my Wattsie. I love you more than you'll ever know.

You are my heart,
