you're five months old, wattsie!

Oh, my Wattsie girl. How is it that you are already FIVE months old? I simply cannot believe it. Five months.

You are absolutely the best baby in the world. I have no doubt. I am so thankful for your sweetness and how easy-going you are. It makes your momma proud!

We did not have to see the doctor this month, so I am not sure how much you weigh or how tall you are, but we have no doubt that you've grown! You are so, so, so long! It still amazes me when I hold you in front of the mirror. Daddy just said to me yesterday that I might be the shortest person in our family. You are a tall, tall girl!

You are wearing mostly 6 months clothes, but you wear 9 months clothes in Polo. (We have an outlet in our hometown, so you have lots and lots of Polo clothes!) Most of your summer stuff is 9 months, so we put a lot of those clothes on you now because it's starting to get hot here. It's all a little big, but that's a good thing-- you have lots of outfits that need to last through the summer. If anything is too small, it's usually too short for you; not too narrow. Again, you're a tall baby!

You are wearing size three diapers, and they look so big compared to the two tiny newborn diapers we had left over. It's amazing how much you've grown.

Your eating habits are pretty much the same. You and I practice very relaxed nursing habits-- I let you eat when you are hungry, but you usually go anywhere from 2 1/2 to 4 hours between feedings. You nurse anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes depending on how hungry and tired you are. You eat cereal every once and a while, but I don't think you are a huge fan, so I don't force it. You'll eat big girl food when you're good and ready to, and that is fine with us!

And oh my goodness, you sleep so well! You get a bath (which you still love!) anywhere from 7-7:30 p.m. and nurse from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and then you are out like a light. Your daddy still takes you to bed. Every once and a while, you won't be tired at 8:30, and we let you watch tv or play (yes, we let you watch late night tv!) but by 9:00, you're ready to sleep. We even put you down twice this past week when you were awake. You "talked" to yourself for about 15 minutes, and then you fell right asleep. You usually sleep until 6:30 a.m., nurse then go back to sleep until 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. I'm so proud of you, Wattsie!

Full disclosure though-- you don't nap much during the day. Knock on wood though: right now, you are in your crib asleep, and it's 2:40 in the afternoon. This is the first time you've napped in your crib in a long, long time. I usually just let you cat nap in my lap. I hope this starts to work out better for us.

Your favorite toys are still Mr. Bug and Mr. Raffe, who stays beside your changing table. Aunt Kelly gave you Mr. Raffe for Christmas, and you just adore him! You also love Much, a little stuffed bunny from the book "Guess How Much I Love You" (hence the name "Much"). You also love your Lovey-- a soft, fleece blanket with a bug's head on one corner. And of course, you're still crazy about Sophie the giraffe. It's no doubt your favorite animals are elephants (which we always call pachyderms), rabbits and giraffes!

You also love your Baby Einstein Planet Neptune play mat from Gran V and Pop, and you love your Baby Einstein jumper. You sit in your Nap Nanny a lot, and sometimes, we have fun just playing on a few blankets and quilts in the floor. You love to grab toys and bring them to your face. Sometimes, you will hold a diaper cloth or your Lovey to your face then pull it down and "pant". Sometimes, you're such a drama queen!

DSC_0204AWA would like to tell you all how many months old she is...

You are still rolling over like a champ. You can hold your head up so, so well. You aren't so great at sitting up yet, but that's ok. You'll get the hang of it! You love to look around and check everything out. You'll stare somebody down and not think a thing about it. You are so inquisitive, and you love to think about everything. You are one little curious baby!

You smile all the time now! It's hard to catch your smile on camera because it disappears so quickly, but you are constantly smiling when people engage you. You flash me a smile anytime I look at you when I've been in another room and come back to see you. You always smile at your daddy, and you will usually smile at people at the church, too. They all love it when you do! You don't laugh a ton (you're a hard little girl to impress), but when you do, it's so adorable. Sometimes, when you smile, you smile over to one side. It is just precious. Your little smile makes my heart melt!

You also have learned to make a new face-- it's like something surprises you. You make your little mouth round and hold your eyebrows up really big. Cracks me up.

Mumsy found your favorite song-- "Stand Up for Jesus". You smile every single time we sing it. But you're only a fan of the first part, not the entire song. We can always count on "Stand Up for Jesus" to get us a smile!

Finally, everybody, and I mean every single person we see, says you look just like your daddy. I've hung it up. There's not much about you that looks like me. You definitely favor your daddy. And that's ok. I'm pretty fond of him, too. It's only fitting for my two favorite people in the world to look just alike, right?

And even though you look like your daddy, you are a Momma's girl. I have no doubt we're best friends. I don't think we've hit full on separation anxiety yet, but you can get pretty upset when I'm not around for a long time. Daddy keeps you on Monday nights while I teach ladies' Bible study at church, and by the time 8:00 p.m. rolls around, you are ready to see your momma. In fact, when I take a shower in the mornings, Daddy usually has to bring you to the bathroom and let me stick my head out of the curtain just so that you can see my face for a minute before I'm finished in the shower. Tugs at my heart.

Ama-Watts, you are so wonderful. Your daddy and I love you so much, and we are so proud of you! There is not a single day that goes by that you do not bring us immense joy. God has been so good to us. He has been so, so good to us.

Happy five months, little girl. Your momma thinks the world of you!

P.S.- Be mine forever, ok?
