next steps

Hello, hello! We've been tearing up the roads lately, and I have so much to post, but I wanted to share some good news about our family...

Several months ago, Mat was contacted by First Baptist Church Gadsden, Alabama about the possibility of becoming their pastor. It was a long and God-honoring process, and this past weekend, Mat and I traveled to Gadsden for Mat to meet with the search committee, the deacons, and the church body.

The church held a lunch and a Q&A session for Mat on Saturday. We had such a great time getting to know members of the church. Mat got a chance to share his testimony with them and answer a few questions. Everything went better than we could have ever imagined.

On Sunday, Mat preached in view of a call and he was unanimously voted in to be the pastor at FBC Gadsden. We are so overwhelmed with thankfulness about the next step in our lives. God has been so gracious to us during this process, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

Also, we are so thankful for the members of the search committee (Clay Ellis, Mike Erwin, Margarette Fuhrman, Delton Hartzog, P. R. Hill, Becki Morgan, Allen Ray and June Styles) at FBC that have loved us through this process and been so patient and kind with us. Their enthusiasm and godliness over the past few months have made such an impression on us. We are so thankful to call them friends. We love them so much already.

We could not have asked for a better process than the one we've been through with FBC over the past few months. We look forward with eagerness to what God has in store for FBC in the coming years. We are thankful. So very, very thankful.

Of course, this all means we will be leaving Kentucky and leaving our current church, Sunnyside Baptist, where we have served for a little over the past two years. (Mat can, thankfully, finish his seminary education online.) We are so sad to leave our current church, but we know that this is what the Lord has for our family. We have come to love and know the people at Sunnyside, and we are praying for them as they transition into the next phase. We are eternally grateful to Sunnyside Baptist Church for giving Mat the privilege of being their pastor. God has taught us so much here, and we thank God for the people of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

We are looking forward with anticipation but remembering with gratitude. God is so very good.
