you're six months old, wattsie!

I know I say it every month, but I really cannot believe you are six months old! How is it that my precious, 8 lb., 14 oz. baby has grown into such a big girl so quickly?

I really believe you turned from this...

Ama-Watts Alexander...two days old, December 2, 2012.

Into this overnight...

So, six months. You are still such a good, sweet baby. You travel well, and are generally a happy, even tempered, easy-going little thing. I couldn't be more proud of you. We've traveled twice this past month (once to Auburn, AL, for Meg's wedding and once to Mobile, AL, for Adam and Maggie's wedding), and you handled both trips like a champ. You sure do know how to make a momma proud!

We haven't gone to the pediatrician for your six month check-up yet, so I'll post your updates later, but I know you've grown up since your last check-up.

(**Update-- we went to the pediatrician on June 6, and you weigh 19 lbs., 7.5 oz. (95th percentile) and you are 26 in. long (50-75th percentile). You are growing beautifully!)

You are wearing most 9 month clothes, but we just recently transitioned you from 6 month pajamas to 9 month pajamas. You can wear some 12 month clothes, but they are really baggy on you. You are still in a size 3 diaper.

We've hit a couple of big milestones this month. First of all, you can sit up pretty well, but we are still working on your balance. You still love to roll over, and you've gotten quite mobile just by rolling around. You are all over the place when we put you in the floor.

On Memorial Day, we let you try real food (not breastmilk or baby cereal) for the first time. You had sweet potatoes, and you loved them! Since then, you've tried apples and oatmeal with cinnamon. You love the oatmeal, but you weren't too keen on the apples. You made hilarious faces every time I put a bite in. You might be just like your momma (I don't eat fruit at all), but I hope not. I hope you like all foods! We'll try apples again another day.

You are nursing every day at 6:30ish a.m., 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. You sleep through the night almost every night from 8:00 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. It's a rarity when you wake up during the night, which is almost never. You nap from 6:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and then again in the mid-morning for around 30 minutes and after lunch for about 30 minutes. You are a cat napper, sweet girl! But as long as you're sleeping through the night, we are fine with it!

We have the same bedtime routine every night. We take a bath sometime between 7 and 7:30 p.m., and then I put lotion on you, get a clean diaper on you, I brush your hair and give you your vitamin D drops, which you cry for if I don't get them to you in a hurry. You love those vitamin drops!

You've recently started to grab toys, my face, my hair, cups and objects that are in front of you in general. You just found our cat Little One, and you were so delighted to pet him and pull his fur out. You loved it!

You also have two teeth now! Your central incisors are both in, and you are in full teething mode! You are drooling like crazy. We give you baby Orajel and baby Tylenol sometimes, and so far, I think they are keeping your pain at bay. You've done so well teething so far, and I can only pray that they don't give you much trouble.

Your favorite toys are your giraffe that stay beside your changing table, your Bla Blas, your Baby Einstein play mat and jumper, and your Eric Carle ladybug. But, your big time favorite is still your Sophie.

You still love bathtime, and my can you get stuff wet! You love to splash around, and you love the bubbles. You especially love getting the washcloth and sucking the water out of it. You've been known to get upset when I take the washcloth away from you when it's time to get out of the tub.

You are constantly "talking" up a storm while we're at home. But, generally, you are a very shy and serious baby around people that you don't know. I always have to tell people that see you that you aren't mean or ugly, you are just really hard to impress! You rarely laugh or smile at people you don't know, but when you get warmed up to someone, you will talk and talk and talk.

You have also just started to wave at other people. It's honestly the cutest thing I've ever seen. You hold your little arm up and wave that hand, and it melts my heart every single time. Your daddy just about can't stand it when you do it, and you love to wave at him. You know just how to melt our hearts!

Ama-Watts, your daddy and I are so in love with you, sweet thing. I cannot get over how much I love you and adore you. You are such a joy to both of us, and we thank God for you every single day. We pray that the second half of your first year will be full of giggles, smiles, fun times, and times of good growth for you. God has watched over you for the first six months of your life, and I am confident He will continue to watch over you and protect you.

I pray that your daddy and I would be godly examples for you, and that the Lord would guide us as we continue to parent you and help Him mold you into the person He would have you be. I pray already that He would save you early, and that He would guard your heart against evil. May you place your full trust in Him, sweet baby.

Ahh, I love you, little girl. Your momma is just crazy about you. I'll love you forever.
